Argyle Cheese Farmer

In 2007 Marge and Dave Randles built the Cheese House on Dave's family farmstead in Argyle, which had been in operation since 1860. There they crafted a product line of high quality cheeses, yogurts, buttermilk, smoothies, and many other delicious dairy products.

For many years they successfully marketed their products directly from the "Cheese House" in Argyle, at Farmer's Markets around the region and in New York City, and in other local retail establishments, and restaurants.

Battenkill Valley Creamery

Our family has been dairy farming in the Battenkill Valley region of Upstate, NY for more than a century. My great-great grandfather began milking cows just up the valley in 1902.

In 1945, my grandfather moved the farm to its current location. We have been farming the same land ever since. Our farm has steadily grown from 12 cows when my grandfather took over to our current size of 350 cows. Our herd consists of Holsteins, Jerseys and Holstein-Jersey crossbreeds.

In 2003, our family began contemplating the idea of bottling our own milk right here on the farm. After extensive research, trips to several milk bottling facilities in the Northeast, visits to many farmer’s markets, analysis of the dairy market, and long family discussions we decided to move forward with the idea in late 2006.

In February of 2007 we began renovating our existing machine shed into our creamery. Needless to say, we had our work cut out for us! We had to move all of our equipment, pour new concrete floors, put up numerous walls, and put in a new electric system. Not to mention, install all of the processing equipment we had acquired.

After a year of hard work, we began bottling our own, local farm fresh milk!! Our first processing day was February 15th, 2008. Our milk goes from our cows to our bottles in less than eight hours! We take pride in providing our customers with the freshest milk possible.

Catsmo Artisan Smokehouse

Our Gold Label is what made Catsmo what it is today. With its rich, buttery texture and sweet lacing of fruit-wood smoke, it accounts for most of our smoked salmon sales. Smoked with the perfect blend of apple and cherry woods, our salmon is praised for its delicate smoked flavor and silky texture. Our salmon comes from the best aquaculture farms located in the the icy Northern Atlantic off the coast of Scotland. We receive daily deliveries of fresh Atlantic salmon flown in directly from the farms fresh, never frozen, giving it an amazingly silky texture, and rich, deep orange color.

Fair Mountain Roasters

Greg Lewis entered the coffee industry in 1984, starting in a Wall Street importer’s sample room where he discovered a passion for roasting, cupping, and evaluating coffee. Alongside his wife and business partner, Barbara DiBeneditto, he built decades of expertise by sourcing coffees from around the world, earning certification as a licensed coffee grader, and serving on New York’s Green Coffee Association arbitration panel. Together they traveled throughout Latin America, learning every step of the coffee journey from farm to roastery. After years in coffee trading, they left the corporate side of the industry to return to what they loved most—hand-roasting exceptional coffees and sharing them with others.

Griggstown Farm

In 1975, George Rude began raising a handful of quail on two acres of a farm located in the historic village of Griggstown in Princeton, N.J. At that time the property was owned by Peter Josten. By the time George Rude purchased the land from Josten in 1992, the Griggstown Quail Farm had grown to over 65 acres raising pheasants, quail, chickens and, when in season, Mallard and Muscovy ducks, turkeys, and partridge. All the birds were all natural (free of growth hormones and antibiotics) and cage free without overcrowding, a standard George Rude keeps to this day.

The farm is proud to raise all natural free range heritage breed turkeys, which are the closest breed to the turkeys that the Pilgrims ate. We also raise free range traditional white turkeys and free range pheasants, which are available in the store from October until March. We sell most of the turkeys during Thanksgiving; make sure to place your order early since we sell out each year!

The farm houses a USDA processing plant which processes poultry five days a week. Deliveries to distributors and restaurants are made everyday. The farm sits just off Bunkerhill Road in Griggstown and passers by often see horses peacefully grazing in the fields of the Griggstown Farm.
